Look, a blog!
2017 for me has been an intensely busy year, packed with exciting projects which have challenged me in numerous ways. (Warning: This will be a shameless, plain and honest summary, surprisingly free of bad jokes.)
The 150 year jubilee stageplay performance of PEER GYNT (directed by Svein Sturla Hungnes) at Akershus Festning was a real kick, getting to work with The Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces (Forsvarets Stabsmusikkorps). What an honour to have my music performed by such a great orchestra!
In the feature film LOS BANDO (directed by Christian Lo), which just finished its final mix only days ago, I have both created the score and the songs performed by the film’s fictional band. This means I also got to work with the movie’s amazing young actors, since they have actually had to learn all the songs they play in the movie, on guitar, drums and cello. Not a minor task (for any of us)!
Early this year, the TV series BRILLEBJØRN (produced by Spark AS) premiered on NRK Super, and became a raging success almost overnight. Now almost every three year old kid in this country (and a lot of parents) know the character Brillebjørn (Bo Bear) – and the music – very well. And hearing kids humming your tunes is kind of a reward in itself!
I’ve also continued my longstanding collaboration with Hunderfossen Familiepark, with this year’s brand new TROLLNATT stageplay ASKELADDEN OG DRONNINGEN PÅ KONGSGÅRDEN (directed by Gard B. Eidsvold) and additional music for the park’s different summer and winter concepts. Always a pleasure!
Between the battles, work also continues on my new EP – aptly titled WAIT FOR IT – VOL. 1. This will actually be released during 2018, unless something goes horribly wrong. The calendar is also filling up with new and exciting assignments in both the film and stage departments, so I have a lot to look forward to the coming year also.
I’d like to thank all my friends and collaborators in the business – directors, producers, writers, musicians, choreographers, actors, film editors, conductors, orchestrators, sound designers, production assistants, recording engineers – you name it! Such a privilege to be able to work with so many amazing people through the years. I know for sure I keep learning a lot a lot from all of you. I wish you all Happy Holidays, Holy Happidays, or whatever you prefer to call it – and the very best wishes for the new year! Bring it on, 2018!
