For hundreds of years, young people of Oslo have been drawn down to the river Akerselva. What binds them to a life on the margins? What has been sacrificed, and what has been gained?
ELVA is a personal story of marginalisation and brotherhood, written and co-directed by Numa Edema Norderhaug, inviting audiences to follow the river god Akeris into Aldriland – a mysterious realm unfolding beneath bridges, along the riverbanks and across the water.
This time I wanted to make the music much more ambient than my usual style, and also emotionally ambivalent: a soft, enveloping blanket of hope, loss and dreams. Warm synthesizers meet piano, pump organ and an ethereal choir, creating a sound world that is both intimate and otherworldly, with the mellow piano theme of haunting
second track «Akeris» as the centrepiece.
