Original stageplay written and directed by Hilde Brinchmann, co-directed by Mats Eldøen and Cathrine Frost Andersen. The sequel to stageplay TIGERBUSSEN KOMMER! (2018) and the internet video series TIGERTRUPPEN OG JAKTEN PÅ DEN MAGISKE VIRUS-ELIKSIR.
Making all-engrossing, interactive stageplay experiences for youth and children in the middle of a pandemic has been a struggle on a fairly steep uphill – so it is all the more satisfying that we managed to actually complete this one and take it out on the road! The school children who get to see this show are, after all, the generation that will end up saving the earth after all the mistakes we (the previous generations) have made. And right now they need art and cultural experiences that can both help them out of last year's struggles, and hopefully help ignite a new spark for the future. If my musical contribution can help to sow just a tiny little seed in that regard, I'll pat myself on the shoulder and say "mission accomplished". The really great movies, stageplays and other cultural experiences you have as a child, often end up as the ones you never forget..!
This play is all about embracing fantasy, for fantasy's sake. Making the world a bit more colourful again after an exceedingly dull year. The music also reflects this, and is really "all over the place". The musical universe of the "Tiger Troupe" is inspired by klezmer, punk and circus aesthetics, while the parallel universe "Fantasia" is a kind of anarchist play with cheesy synth sounds and techno. Hopefully it all blends together and creates a kind of whole. That, at least, is the intention.
