Trollmannskogen

«Trollmannskogen» is an imaginative, nature-centred multi-platform universe for children, created by Jon Løvaas and Hans Jørgen Sandnes. At its heart is the wizard Ethner, a timeless forest guardian. In this world, all living things have a voice and can communicate, and every challenge is grounded in real-world experiences. The magic of «Trollmannskogen» bridges fantasy and nature, encouraging curiosity, presence and a deeper understanding of the natural world. Through Ethner’s stories and the magic wands that spark discovery, young audiences are invited to see the forest not just as trees, but as a living, extraordinary place where science, imagination and storytelling coexist. 

Trollmannskogen is also a series of short films, fittingly labeled as “book films”. I had the great pleasure of composing the music for the newest instalment, “Ethner and the Christmas Tree”, which was released on Gyldendal’s learning platform Salaby in December 2025. It’s a piano-based score with a minimalist and folkloric character — a sound we felt captured the magic of this universe perfectly.
